In an emergency, important information can be difficult to find when the person who needs help cannot communicate. Scan If Hurt™ was created to help make user-selected emergency information and contacts easier to access when they may be needed most.
On October 13, 2024, a group of friends were riding trails deep in the woods when one rider lost control and struck a tree. EMS responded, but the rider was unconscious and the people around him did not have answers to basic questions about his medical history, medications, allergies, or emergency contacts.
His friends knew his wife's name, but they did not have her phone number. The rider passed away that day. For the friends who were there, the experience exposed a simple but serious problem: the information people may need during an emergency is not always available when the person involved cannot provide it.
That experience became the driving force behind Scan If Hurt™. Daniel White — a rider, engineer, Marine Corps veteran, and one of the friends present that day — set out to create a practical way for a person's chosen emergency information and contacts to remain accessible when they cannot communicate.
Scan If Hurt™ was built around that challenge: The Information Gap™.
An emergency revealed how quickly an information gap can appear when an injured person cannot answer questions and the people around them do not know their emergency information or contacts.
Scan If Hurt™ uses a scannable Safety ID™ to connect a person helping in an emergency to information and contacts the profile owner chooses to make available.
No app is required to scan. The Safety ID™ is designed to provide a straightforward connection to the associated emergency profile without replacing established emergency procedures, maritime safety equipment, or professional medical care.
No app is required to scan a Safety ID™ and open the associated emergency profile.
The profile owner chooses the emergency information and contacts they make available through their profile.
A person assisting can use the available profile information and contacts alongside the appropriate emergency response process.
Code Alpha Safety brings Scan If Hurt™ to captains, crew, owners, guests, yacht management teams, fleets, marinas, and maritime organizations. The goal is simple: help keep the emergency information and contacts a person chooses to share accessible onboard, dockside, ashore, and while traveling.
Create a Safety ID™ that connects to the emergency information and contacts you choose to make available.
